LARCH WOOD

His scientific name is LARIX. This softwood grow in altitude from Western Europe (France) up to Eastern Siberia. He is also on Northern America territory and in Asia, locally named MERKUS.

Thick and heavy, 850 kg/m3 in green, this wood had a medium to close strait grain. His colour could be brown yellow up to brown red.

SINBPLA had selected his producers in Eastern Siberia for three reasons:

1. Larch covers around 60% of forestry land in this area, best one warranty for a long-term availability.
2. The logs used came from matures trees. They give us the best one grain for best one quality.
3. Permanently in Russia from more than 10 years through our Russian subsidiary, we have built a large experience and weave efficiencies network.

Harvested in winter, dried mostly of the time slowly on outside yards, the sawing are graded in three choices, Fifth, Fourth and Unsorted. All parcels are visited by our staff before their sawmill's landing for a long railway trip with the Siberian train. They will be inspected one more time at their arrival on our docks facilities located along the Finland gulf.
With all of these cares and securities we will be glad to offer you:

· One of the best one softwood

  • An "ecological wood". As he absorb less humidity than a Pin, a pressure treatment is unnecessary.
  • A wood with a high durability, as well resistant to fungi and decay.
  • An ideal wood for all outside uses and siding.

The whole larch qualities, performances and uses would be collected on a final synthetic page.

PROCESS AND FINISHING

For outside, 18 to 24% moisture contents is well.
For insides uses, where a low level is advised, the larch had to be dry in kiln facility. This one had to be drive carefully.
A quickest drying could develop some checks, splits or even some knots braking.

The larch workability is easy as well by mechanics tools or handing ones. The best one example is the traditional handcraft in French Alps with their carved furniture.
Nevertheless hard metal tools are necessary. The small knots are more often hard and damage sometimes the equipment. The finishing quality is lower in this case.
Drilling, reaming, sawing are easy. A regular tools cleaning is recommended due to the pitch. Clean with turpentine be the efficient way.
As for all woods a perfect gluing will require a good one drying.

The finishing be help by a well clean up with dilute. Enrich fibres with treatment based on oil for wood give an additional protect, rejected water and impurity.
As well protected the surface will not be injured by moisture and will have best one climat resistant.
After a well cleaning larch support all finishes, painting, varnish …
In same time an end using without finish is possible
In this way one of our customer had reintroduce with success the larch for wooden roof in the French south Alps..

OUR PRODUCTS RANGE, GRADINGS & INVENTORIES

The grading are based on rules where naturals defects of sawing are limited such as:
  • Sizes and knots distribution.
  • Proportion of saps and heart wood..
  • Rectitude of sawing and wane.

The saing are graded and packaged by quality, Unsorted, Fourth and Fifth.
Most bundle are in one length. The shortest pieces, 3.0 meter and less are generally collected in truck package.

Our facilities give us opportunity to offer you a quality storage, only under shed to secure a good one humidity balance and a well preserving of theses goods
